Dress code for wine tasting?
I am having a wine tasting " date" with my crush next week. The thing is I do not want to be overdressed. I already have a midnight blue polka dot dress. It can go casual with flats or dressy with heels. The bar we're going to is trendy, moderately expensive, it's downtown and has those fancy big suede couches. I haven't dared to ask him yet what to wear...Help please?Ah, I'm in my early 20s. drunkenmilkman> oh yeah, definitely. That look takes skills man
What types of wine should I purchase for a beginner's wine tasting party?
I'm hosting a small gathering for a few people who know little about wine but would like to know more. I think a good place to start would to be to learn how the more common wines taste for ex. merlot, riesling, pinot noir. Most of the group has already tasted the three mentioned. I found a list on wiki of more than 30 " better known wines" and their descriptors. From this list can someone recommend a contrasting variety of about 5 7 common wines without using the three I mentioned before. And if you feel that the list is leaving out one, feel free to add your own input as well. Thanks en.wikipedia.org wiki Wine tasting Grape varieties

Sick after wine tasting?
I live in a wine region and last night my husband I went to four different wineries for tasting. Normally I have a decent alcohol tolerance and usually drink wine on a regular basis. After tasting all the wines I'm guessing I had equivilent to about 2 glasses I started getting the spins on the ride home. I was violently sick most of the night and I still feel awful today. What would cause me to suddenly get so sick? We had plenty of snacks in between also. Could it have been mixing all those different kinds of wines? I'm not pregnant, not taking any medications, didn't have an empty stomach. All the samples were very small and I didn't even drink all of them. Normally I can drink two to three glasses of wine and I never get sick. Tipsy maybe, but not sick.
I may be a wine beginner but what's the point about wine tasting?
Since everyone has a different taste, style and mood the point when you taste it , why does a wine connoisseur matter? A wine can taste bad to the wine connoisseur but good to a normal wine drinker. Am I missing a point here? It looks similar to art here.
