I'm very new to stocks and investing, so this might sound like a stupid question. But if anyone can help me, ill gladly take the advice. I handle my trading through USAA. I recently put $120 in my trading account just to mess around with and see what happens. I've placed some money in bigger companies, but lost a bit of it. so i sold what i could, and invested about the $100 i had left in a penny stock. I got 50 shares out of it, and it went from $1.30 share to $2.16 share in the past 2 days. What's the deal with penny stocks?
I'm subscribed to a free penny stock newsletter where they recommend penny stocks to buy and every time they release a new pick that's worth a few cents, it jumps up on average 50 % by the next day. This happens 9 10 times they release a new pick. I understand this is a pump and dumb scam but can't I take advantage of these things? If I buy the stock as soon as they release it, and then sell it within a day, won't I be making money? This all seems too good to be true but I really don't know what the catch is with all these penny stocks. I'd like some clarification. Thanks.For example, the stock AMWI was a recent pick. I was notified to buy it at around 5 cents. Today it closed it 63 cents. Does this literally mean if I bought it when I was first notified and sold it today, I would be selling all my shares for 63 cents?
