Ok this might be a stupid question...(controlling diabetes)?
but what is more important in controlling diabetes prediabetes ? keeping the numbers under 140 after eating or making sure there isn't a big jump in numbers after eating.. like starting at 85 and having it jump to 138 big jump but still under 140 .or lowering that fasting blood glucose...???tx for any infointeresting but my fasting blood glucose HAS gone down this past month I've really cut back on the carbs and sugar I was at 119 it went to 106 after 3 weeks of eating better and exercising but jumped up this week to 116...I did take a tylenol pm and slept like ten hrs though the night before

OK I know that each person is different when it comes to controlling Diabetes.?
OK I know that each person is different when it comes to controlling Diabetes. There are things to consider like the cost of medicine, the type of medicine, the cost of lab work, the cost of doctor visits, the location of where a person is. I also know that each doctor charges different amounts for visits, and I also know that blood work varies by test as well. I also know that costs will vary by how well it is being controlled. But what I m trying to figure out is a rough estimate of these costs so I can see just how much medical insurance I need in terms of deductibles. My wife was just diagnosed with early onset diabetes, and we don t have any form of medical insurance. We make too much for the low income programs, but not enough to afford insurance through my work. As of right now I m looking at the different health insurance programs such as Blue cross Blue shield , and the others. I would like something that won t cost me an arm and a leg each month and has such a high deductible that I end up never meeting and paying more for over the course of the year. But I also don t want to end up on the other end, where I don t have enough coverage either.I also would like to know that when insurance companies start talking about life time maximums, deductibles, and coinsurance does this mean how much they will cover over her lifetime or just until she reaches that amount and is cut off from the insurance. The deductible is it a reduced cost throughout the year for things like lab work? And when they start talking about coinsurance is that like having two different health insurances working together to help lower the cost, or is that they will cover before I get the bill or how does that work out?I know that these are complicated questions, that have no easy answers to, and some of them are basic questions that I should ask the insurance companies about if when I am calling for quotes on a policy.

Hard to control diabetes type2?
I am 42 years old and have had type 2 diabetes since 1995. Up until April, I had fairly good control but Struggled. I got laid off in April and as you know jobs are few and far between these days. I don't have any insurance now and the local health dept is not taking any new patients. I checked my sugar last night and it was higher than the meter would read so I took some insulin I had left and its gone now. My A1C was 17 when I went to the doctor last time, in May. I have began having blurry vision and my feet are numb at times and it scares me. I cant afford any more insulin its $300 and Im running out of oral medication. Can anyone tell me what I can do? I know eating right and exercising is good but it isn't enough for me to control it. Please don't judge me, Im on unemployment and as soon as I pay my living expenses, I have about $10 to $20 left til my nxt check. I have put in well over 100 resumes since April but no luck yet.I forgot to add that yesterday when it was so high, I felt so weak and tired, I had a throbbing headache and I couldd not get awake, does this sound like danger signs of ketoacidosis or diabetic coma?Dinah, I tried to get on some type of medical assistance, since I don't have kids, I make too much money on unemployment because its just me alone. Crazy isnt it?
