Does this signify possible identity theft?
Tonight I tried to access my annual free credit report online. When I got to each agencies ID Verification, I answered them all correctly, then each said the info was wrong. The questions I did not recognize we're similar on each site records indicate you opened a home equity loan in October 2011 have you ever lived in these towns list of about 5, none of which I had previously resided. I was also asked to verify a former roommate. Each I answered correctly, yet I was blocked from entering incorrect info.Is this a red flag for possible identity theft?
Who do I need to contact regarding credit card fraud and identity theft for my dead grandparents?
They have been dead for several years. I have recently found out that a family member has several thousands of dollars in credit card debt in their name. The family member even has the credit card statements sent to thier own home. I have contacted the credit card companies that I know of and am waiting on credit reports. This is awful i tried to efile my Taxes and wad rejected due to someone else used my info and my kids info to get a Tax Refund. Luckily the person who did it hasnt received any money. But the thing is now i have to wait longer to get my Tax Refund due to me having to file a paper return. The Irs has to do there investagating. I went too my local Irs Office and had to show proof of identity for myself and my kids. My thing is has anyone experienced this before and how long after filing your paper return did you recieve your Tax return. Help please.
Why is the victim of identity theft on the hook for money defrauded by somebody else?
So, somebody applies to a credit card company using my name and personal information.Why do I owe that money? I didn't do anything wrong.

Should I be worried about identity theft?
A few years ago, in 2006, my husband filed taxes for the first time and found out someone was using his social security number for work purposes so he owed a ton on taxes when he made very little in the preceding year. We filed bankruptcy and just received our letter of discharge so I go to check credit reports. Mine comes up no problem. I go to check my husband's and with two bureaus it says they cannot identify him and he has to call and mail or fax in documents. With the third it is mailing us a form that has a number so he can check his credit report hopefully I emailed best communication with her our bankruptcy attorney because I had a few questions on the discharge as well but when checking credit reports that came up so it has me concerned. Any advice or ideas while I wait for our attorney to get back to us?Also with the one we are getting the letter for, on the security questions to verify who you are it asked about a mortgage from 2003 he was 15 years old , what bank the mortgage was with, what city he lives in none of which were even California where he has lived his whole life and how old the house was that the mortgage was one. two years ago we got his credit report no problem and there was no mortgage listed on there and were able to access it just fine online.Got a reply from her and she doesn't know what we should do in the identity issues so waiting for the letter to come and then after that I guess contacting the rest of the credit agencies. Any advice in the mean time, or even better anyone who has been through this?
My employer sent out my W2 to the wrong address & now i'm a victum of identity theft. Can I sue my employer?
This isn't actually for me, a man in the building i work in is going thru this issue. His company sent his W2 to the wrong address and whomever they sent it to, used his information and filed there taxes using his SSN, Credit information and etc...Now after filing for identity theft and going through the process of regaining his identity back he is considering suing his employer. Can he sue his employer? If so, does anybody have a suggestion on Lawyers to contact?
When to check credit reports after identity theft?
I found out yesterday that my credit card had been stolen and unauthorized charges were made on the card. I contacted the credit card company and have the issues with that card being handled. This all stemmed from an issue only 24 hours before.I am concerned about further identity theft and have heard I should check my credit report however, I'm not sure when to do that. Since it has only been two days I'm positive on that is it too soon? When how often do I need to check?

Hi, I have a little problem right now. Starting last year, my friend asked me to join amway with him because his family is already a successful IBO in amway. But due to the contract fees I didnt want to join because it would be a waste of money, but he insisted and paid for the fee on my behalves and just asked me to sign the contract. I did and this is where the problem started. They would use my account with my information to make purchases online. each purchase is worth thousands of dollars which is unbelievable.... not just one month, EVERY MONTH. Now its time to report tax and all THOSE CHECKS that directly deposited into their bank account is counted as my income. But this person I knew for years, i didnt want to just flip the table like that. I asked them politely to STOP USING my account to make purchase and they said OK. But towards the end of year, the contract expires but THEY RENEWED IT by signing it themselves and continue to make purchases with my NAME. Can i sue this person for identity theft?
