When is my sweet basil plant ready to eat/use?
I planted a sweet basil plant a few months ago.. It's now about 6 inches tall, and bushy, and healthy... This is my first herb garden, and I was wondering when I could start to pinch it, and use the basil in cooking and stuff. Not sure when it's " ready"
Can you grow marijuana naturally in the same pot as a basil plant?
I have a very small pot on my window with basil, and I was wondering if it was possible to just grow one plant of marijuana on there too? I don't want to get artificial light etc... I just want one plant and if it will grow fine on a window?
My young basil plants and LEAF MITES! HELP!!!!!!!!!!?
Hi, my basil plants are about 4 weeks old, growing outdoors and have developed two leaves. However, I noticed leaf mite trails appearing on the very first pair of leaves. What is a fast and effective way to prevent leaf mites from invading other future leaves and exterminate these pests once and for all? I would not like to use any kind of pesticides as I want my plants to be organic rooted in organic soil Also, would I have to move my plants indoors to prevent any leaf mites from eating the leaves? Thanks

Something is eating my basil leaves?
I started off with a few little holes in my leaves, and hoping to make whatever was eating them go away, used a dilute solution of vinegar, a little bit of hot sauce, and cayenne pepper. It was about 1 30. Really light stuff. I sprayed it on the leaves last night. And today, there are gigantic holes in my leaves. As in over half of the leaf is gone on some. The leaves are not burnt. Again, the leaves are not burnt. And just ONE more time, so you got it the leaves are not burnt. These have been EATEN. What would do this even after I put on the vinegar and cayenne pepper and hot sauce?
Will basil seeds germinate at this time of year?
This is for growing indoors. I can control the heat okay but I'm quite far north and it's only light from about 9am till 3.30pm. Is that enough for the seeds to germinate? Thanks

How do I get rid of whiteflies and fungus gnats on my Sweet Basil plant?
I'm in zone 8b I have a roughly 1.5 ft sweet basil plant in a pot outside. The pot is 12inches, and the potting medium is 3 parts miracle gro cactus soil and 1 parts perlite. It receives full sun all day and watering whenever the soil gets dry. I also recently started fertilizing it by spraying with diluted Alaska Fish Fertilizer fish emulsion . These bugs showed up before I started fertilizing.Anyways, I have noticed tiny white fluttery moth fly type bugs around the soil early in the morning, and little black gnats around the leaves during the day. I have pretty positively identified them to be whiteflies and fungus gnats. I was wondering what kind of pesticide repellent I should use to get rid of these, and if I can do it organically. I have read mixed reviews about neem oil, but I want to get advice from people who have dealt with this firsthand, or know people who have. I would really like for whatever I use to kill these bastards to be organic, but it isn't a total must as long as my basil is still safe to eat being washed first, of course. I've gotten some excellent advice on this troublesome basil plant in the past week and I'm really hoping to find some more. I've tried different using venues for advice such as gardening forums but the ones I'm finding all seem to be dead.Any advice would really be appreciated. I don't want to give up on this plant
How long will it take for Basil, Oregano, and Parsley to germinate indoors?
Bought a little italian herb kit that came with seeds for the three herbs named above, plus some peet soil for bedding. We've been watering misting them several times a day, their by direct sunlight for a few hours, and indirect for the rest of the day. We keep the house at around 70 and at night I'm leaving a compact fluorescent bulb on near them for some potential extra support. It's been 10 days and so far I haven't seen anything sprout yet. About how long will it take for these herbs to sprout?
