Healthy dog diet question?
For my dog, I like to mix in a few raw healthy foods in with his high quality kibble. I usually put in a tiny bit of diced cheese, a spoon of peanut butter, a few small banana slices, some diced up baby carrots, and some blueberries. i always put everything in very small amounts. for blueberries, id put 8. i put dice only 2 baby carrots. I use the slices of cheese i buy from giant that i use in my sandwich, and i dice one slice into small pieces. my vet said this was a perfectly nice diet. but i wat your opinion do u guys suggest i add more of what i already give, or completely take away something? and i was wondering, what else could i mix into my doggy's food? maybe i should switch it up a little. So what healthy, doggy edible foods can i add to my doggy's kibble? I was thinking maybe a spoon of RAW ground pork a day, is that ok too?please tell me some other foods and what quantity i have a pembroke welsh corgi, i give her a little less than the amount my kibble bag says to give her breeder said so thanksss

If I'm going to give my dog diet food, can I just give it to her or should I go to the vet first?
I'm planning on giving my dog diet food, she's a 5 year old Siberian Husky and she's very round. I want to give her diet food but I'm not sure if I should go to the vet and get a recommendation or just get a bag of food myself at Petco. Is it better to visit the vet or is it safe to do it yourself?

For you, what dog diet is best for small breeds?
RAW, kibble, or cooked foods? Explain please. I need some info.

Has anyone ever seen before/after photos of the raw meat dog diet?
My puppy was born a few weeks ago and I bring him home in a little less than a month. I've been looking all over for the ideal diet, and the raw meat diet has me very interested. It makes sense to me.I've seen some really healthy lookin dogs on the diet.It could be cheap. But All I really want to see if some before after photos of a dog who switches to the diet. I'd love to see a healthier coat, less fat, more muscle, whiter teeth, better smelling breath, ect.Looked all over google and youtube and can't find one example. It'd be awesome to see a doggy transformation Thank you so much.

What do you think of this dog diet plan?
wanting to come up with a diet for a sighthound i havent decided which breed yet, but ive been to dog shows i am thinking ibizan or pharaoh hound...i'm very active and have plenty of time for the dog and a big fence.well i'm reading a book that recommends a certain amount of calories to get a particular weight and maintain it, also it factors in energy level.it recommends a balanced meal as Meat and vegetables the following are foods that can be used ground meatpastaheartlivercarrotscabbageapplesbannasstrawberriesblack berrierschickenfishboiled rice for dogs with delicate stomachs as a side in with the main food wheat cereal with non lactose milk you can buy lactose free milk, it's the lactose that upsets the dogs cooked scrambled eggs.booked even as an analysis of fresh meats and calories per oz so that you can maintain weight with the dog and see what you need to add or subtract from the diet to get the best results. factors in moisture content, protein & fat Dfor instance it recommends that a 33LB dog thats dieting eat 600 calories rather than 1000 which is the normal requirement but this drop should be done gradually due to every dogs different activity level. i was thinking i could use this with my own dog to add or take away calories when he needs to gain or lose weight. it seems to be a Raw Diet but so few RAW websites ive seen have given me such great details.i was studying and dogs DO actually convert vegetables into ingredients necessary for bodily functions by converting the fat and protein.your thoughts on this diet? do not be rude or insulting i just want opinions not insults or cursing or foul languagebook title for any interested is " the complete illustrated guide to dog care & behavior" by Bruce Fogle D.V.M

About my dogs diet?....?
I have an eleven week old Border Collie puppy. I am currently feeding her wellness. I don't have so much money and was wondering what is the best bang for my buck but also still doing my puppy good? Is there a brand that would be better for her? Also is there certain foods that I can giver sometimes for an extra health boost? Like any vegetables? I want her to be as healthy as she can be. Thank you

Is my dogs diet okay? ?
I feed my 10 wk old puppy his puppy chow, and I top it with small portions of boiled boneless chicken, and rice with veggies. Can I do this on a daily basis as long as I still have the puppy chow? Thanks Would he get enough nutrition with ommited puppy chow? Thats why I keep it. Labman It's REAL food. With no by products. I still give him puppy chow for more nutrition.....but also like to feed him with veggies and chicken. He also loves blueberries. I could by the most expensive puppy chow ever, but it doesn't hurt to give him more.

Does hartz or flea collar effect my dogs diet?
well yesterday i went to target and i decided to but the hartz x reflect shield or some shit like that and well i put it on her the next day i saw that she did not want to eat the food all she did was go to it and sniff it and walk away.so i was wondering if the smell of the collar interferes with the smell of her food because the collar is somewhat close to her nose the collar is on her neck and she only eats when i bring it up to her nose and bring it down then she opens her moth and eats it

Am i going to mess up my dogs diet?
My dogs are on a diet of kibble mixed with wet food. Over the weekend our fridge freezer broke and we bought a new one...but we were left with a ton of defrosted meat. We can't eat it all we've tried and it isnt spoiled...its sitting in our fridge. I don't want to waste it so i was wondering if i could cook it and feed it to the dogs....or whether the change in diet would upset their stomachs? Its things like plain chicken breast, steak etc?oh i am eating it too not feeding them anything i dont eat myself, its just the sheer volume of meat we cant manage. think cooking and freezing it might work wel

How can I add fat/calories to my dogs diet?
I have a young 1 1 2 year old black labrador. He's not castrated however I will never breed him and he's given a lot of exercise so he's very healthy, fit and active for a pet lab. Most people have problems keeping their labradors weight down, but I struggle to keep his up I used to feed him double his weights guideline amount and cut it down as I worried that as he gets older it will make him fat. However he's now too slim, his ribs are coming through slightly and I need to act now and fast to prevent more weight loss. I give him working dog food as he's so active. I was going to give him double again and some canned food three times a week with treats. What sort of treats can I give him to keep his weight up is my main question? PS He is wormed regularly, he was wormed two weeks ago and is every month as directed by vets

How to add more fiber to my dogs diet?
My dog went to the vet today and we found out he has gained weight. The vet suggested feeding him less dog food and replacing what we take away with fiber. He suggested carrots and green beans. How do I add these things to his food? Do I cook them or leave them raw? And what else could I give him vegetable wise that will add fiber? He's a bit of a picky eater, we tried giving him carrots for treats before but he won't eat them. Yes, the vet told us we also need to give him more exercise. I can figure that out on my own, I just need advice on the diet part. And I'm going to listen to what the vet says, as far as adding fiber so please don't try to tell me something different than what he suggested. He's a professional and I trust his advice.Well, heart, if you weren't going to actually answer the question I asked instead of putting something ridiculous that I didn't even ask about, you should've refrained yourself from typing. And I am not " blindly following" his advice, he has been our vet for 7 years, and has gotten us through countless situations with our old dog who lived to be 16 and our new dog, who is now 4. You're not a Top Contributor in the Dog Section, so why should I follow your advice when most of the other answers support my question?

Has anyone had a dog with Bladder Stones, after changing the dogs diet did they ever come back?
My dog just had surgury for Bladder Stones, the Doctor said that dogs that get them tend to get them more than once. I was wondering if anyone has had a dog and has gotten the surgury and then the stones didn't come back after changing the diet of the dog. I am just worried she will have to go through this agian. I don't like my little girl having to get surgury again.

My dogs diet and type of food I feed him?
Okay so my dog is about 1 years old and he is definitely a picky eater. I've had dogs all my life and I've never had a dog like him. He will actually starve himself because he doesn't want to eat his dog food. I'm not kidding... he didn't eat for 2 days until I put chicken in it, then he snarfed it. I've changed his food all of the time from Iams to now its that true blue or whatever brand. It's hellish expensive and my dog hates it. Should I just start feeding him our leftovers steak, carrots, etc ? I dont have a problem doing that, but is it bad? I've heard of people putting their dogs on the caveman diet lol.
