Urgent! I don't have a cake bottom piece, what else can I use to ice/decorate/ birthday cake with?
I baked 13 x 9 cake for my son's birthday this afternoon and realized I don't have a pan card board type cake bottom to put the cake on. What can I use to put this cake? I'm thinking of baking sheet pan but the metal color will show on the edges... Should I put wax paper over it? Please help.Thank you all for who responded so far but I still need more ideas. Yes, I've thought about covering with foil or wax paper but my husband said when we cut the cake, we will cut the foil with it or people scooping with foil when they get a piece of cake . With wax paper, we might accidentally move the whole cake around when cutting...Any other ideas?

I bake all the time, but this is a cake I'm making for my daughter for her 13th Birthday, so i want it to be very special I also decorate cakes, but need some ideas on how to really wow her and her friends
How far ahead can I make an iced & decorated birthday cake?
I am making a 'train' cake made from butter cake, 5 part engine with carriages filled with lollies and iced with colored butter cream for my son's birthday dinner. How far ahead can I make and decorate it? I don't want the icing to go all hard by the time it's eaten, but I don't want to be making it while we have guests here either. And what is the best way to keep it fresh beforehand? I have to put it on a 60cm cake board so a container is not possible. Any advice would be great this is my first attempt
