Easy cake decorating ideas?
I want to make a nice cake for my friends bridal shower. Any ideas? I want it to look elegant decent, not just a plain ol' chocolate cake. Any ideas welcome Thanks I wna do either a 2 or 3 layer cake.

It is for a little girl, who wants bright bold colors in pink, purple and blue. I have taken some classes and can do pretty much whatever I see, it just been awhile since I've done a cake.

Does anyone have cake decorating ideas for an 18th birthday?
My daughter will be turning 18 in a few weeks and I would like to bake a cake for her but also decorate it but not just the standard decorations but cool stuff, fondant, etc. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to buy it from any grocery store or a bakery not sure if my town has any bakeries anymore, seems they all closed down because it just doesn't taste as good homemade from scratch is so much better. I recently had her graduation cake done by a local person, it was fabulous, tasted great all ingredients, fillings, etc from scratch , looked fabulous but it did cost an arm & a leg as she charged by the slice Wilton's pricing for weddings and also by the hour for decorating she did cut 4 hours off her time but it still was a ton, and I do mean ton of money so I don't want to go that route again as I'm already broke from money spent in 1 month from prom through graduation.So any ideas, suggestions, even pictures would be great I do have a local Michael's store so I can get fondant and a lot of other stuff as well. Just remember, don't want ideas & pictures to be too difficult but don't want super simple & plain either. Time is limited as I do work during the week but I can make the cake on a weekend & freeze it empty freezer at work then decorate just before her birthday can make decorations during the week as well prior to assembling it on the cake .Thanks everyone for your ideas, pictures, etc Liz None Sounds like a cool & interesting idea but I can see myself staining my entire kitchen with the food coloring. lol Thanks for the suggestion & the bday wish for her just graduated 2 weeks ago & starts college tomorrow. C Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately already did that idea on her graduation cake custom made edible soccer balls, MLS logo, favorite soccer team logo, sports medicine bag, cap & tassel, and a mini diploma from the school shrunk down, with all the school superintendents, her name, etc. and all were edible..........another reason why it cost an arm & a leg. ha ha. Edible photos are a good idea but that would require me buying a printer that is dedicated to taking the edible paper as well as the ink and this is not a thing I'll do all the time so that's out of the question but a good thought. the lady that did my daughters graduation cake has a dedicated

I'm making a dome shaped ice cream cake for my mom's birthday, and I am trying to think of ways that I can decorate it other than just icing, candles, and " Happy Birthday Mom" . If you have ANY ideas, please tell me THANKS < 3The ice cream is IN the cake. I have a special pan set that leaves a place for you to put filling INTO the cake.And I have no fondant, and there is no possible way to get to a store to buy any before we eat the cake I've just got to use the resources I have, which is....icing, food coloring, and all of the basic things you would find in a pantry.

Cake decorating ideas for my friends 13th b-day?
for my m8s 13th birthday im making her a cake. Its just goin 2 be a basic sponge with pink buttercream icing. But i dont know for the decorating. Its going to be pink butter icing and i was thinking about putting smarties around the edge and writing 13 with smarties in the middle but i think that would be quite boring. I want something so cooly decorated i want her to see it and go 'wow did u make that ? ?' so what do you think i could decorate it wif?
