Question: In what year were audio baby monitors introduced?

Trying to prove to my wife i am far superior intellectually to her.........once again..........this time via the question of what year Baby Room (AUDIO) Monitors were first introduced. The winner is the one coming closest. One person said 1982.............The other said 1990.............. Winner gets to watch the other clean house, including windows, and washing each others clothes for a month.............. Anyone know the answer? God I hope i win this one............i hate doing laundry.........

You're both off by about a half century. Credit often goes to Norman Emerick from Fisher-Price who is said to have invented one in the 1930's in response to the Lindbergh baby kidnapping in 1932. I was unable to find either a picture or patent to substantiate that claim. A well documented early electronic baby monitor, also claimed by some to be the first, was called the "Radio Nurse ".
